Podiatry In Cardiff – What Does A Podiatrist Do?

As a company that offers podiatry in Cardiff we are often asked “what is the difference between a podiatrist and a chiropodist?”

So what is the difference between a podiatrist and a chiropodist?

In short, nothing. Both are protected titles and are recognised by the Health and Care Professions Council. Chiropody is just the old term for podiatry, they are both the same. In my opinion the only difference is the way that people perceive the meaning. Often patients think that a chiropodist will treat nail and skin conditions as well as verrucae and podiatrists treat a wider variety of foot related problems. But that is just a perception, both are the same.

Where can I get podiatry in Cardiff?

The Healthcare Hub now has two locations in Cardiff, our Whitchurch shop The Healthcare Hub, 53a Merthyr Road, Whitchurch, Cardiff and our new service only clinic in The Healthcare Hub Unit 1 Sanatorium Road, Canton, Cardiff, CF11 8DG. Services include general podiatry treatments which can be simple nails cuts, treatments of corns, callus, verrucae and ingrowing toenails. Our podiatry team also offer biomechanical analysis for treatments of a number of lower limb conditions such as plantar fasciitis, shin pain, Achilles tendon pain etc. On occasion we will utilise the use of prescription insoles that are used to reduce load on the damaged tissue.
