The PTH Group Announces Exclusive Strategic Partnership With LutraCAD

Accelerating Digital Innovation Across Daceys, ACE Feet In Motion & Orthotix

The PTH Group is delighted to announce an exclusive three-year strategic partnership with LutraCAD, the pioneering Dutch developer of advanced CAD software, digital workflow systems and specialist 3D printing technologies for orthotic production. Through this agreement, Daceys and ACE Feet In Motion will fully integrate LutraCAD’s technology across their clinical and manufacturing operations, while Orthotix becomes the exclusive distributor of the complete LutraCAD product portfolio throughout the United Kingdom and Ireland.

LutraCAD’s ecosystem includes a full suite of powerful scanning and CAD modules for insoles, footwear lasts, AFOs, midsoles and test/fitting shoes, supported by high-resolution 3D scanners, dynamic pressure plates, industrial 3D printers and a range of MDR-approved printing materials. Together, these components create a seamless, end-to-end digital workflow designed to elevate accuracy, efficiency and manufacturing consistency. The platform’s intuitive, open-software architecture also integrates effortlessly with both milling systems and third-party printers, giving users complete freedom and flexibility in how they operate.

For The PTH Group, adopting LutraCAD’s technology represents a significant step forward in modernising and expanding our production capabilities. Both Daceys and ACE Feet In Motion will offer enhanced design, print and finishing services to their respective markets. Meanwhile, Orthotix will enter a new growth phase by supplying digital orthotic technology, materials and support to hospitals, orthotic houses, clinics and industry partners from early 2026.

Cutting Through the Noise: A Two-Year Journey to Find the Right Digital Partner

As the orthotics industry experienced a surge of interest in 3D printing, The PTH Group embarked on a two-year evaluation of emerging technologies to determine what could genuinely deliver at clinical and industrial scale. While many systems promised transformative change, most fell short, whether due to limited print quality, poor repeatability, restrictive pricing models or the high capital investment required to operate them. Others lacked the advanced design flexibility required for complex orthotic work often prescribed in our NHS clinics.

Supported by insight from Welsh Government and Cardiff Council, the PTH team assessed technologies across the globe. This journey eventually led owners Tom and Paul Cooper to Heeswijk-Dinther, where they met Niels and Jordy den Otter, founders of LutraCAD. Seeing the system in action made it immediately clear that LutraCAD offered something fundamentally different: a combination of accessible hardware, MDR-approved materials, exceptional print quality and a genuinely open, user-friendly software platform – all at an affordable price point. It was the missing link in the Group’s digital transformation strategy.

Paul Cooper, CEO & Co-Founder, The PTH Group comments;

“Our mission has always been to deliver the highest-quality orthotic solutions at the best possible value, and LutraCAD enables us to do exactly that. Their open, accessible and cost-effective digital ecosystem gives us the precision, repeatability and efficiency required for modern clinical manufacturing without the barriers that have restricted digital adoption in the past. We’re proud to integrate these technologies across Daceys and ACE Feet In Motion, and equally proud to make them available to hospitals, orthotic houses and MSK professionals across the UK and Ireland through Orthotix. This partnership is a major step forward for the whole sector.”

Niels den Otter, CEO & Co-Founder, LutraCAD comments;

“Partnering with The PTH Group is an exciting step for LutraCAD because their healthcare brands operate across the full spectrum of the orthotic and MSK community from podiatry clinics and orthotic labs to NHS hospitals, retail environments and trade distribution. Together, we have the opportunity to bring genuinely accessible, affordable and high-quality digital solutions to every corner of the UK and Ireland. Our shared vision for modern, scalable orthotic manufacturing means digital technology can become available to the entire industry, not just a select few.”

The Transformational Project Continues at Daceys with the launch of The CADCAM Lab

This partnership powers a major digital leap forward at Daceys, where LutraCAD technology now drives the newly completed CADCAM Lab. The facility features integrated scanners, advanced design software and a dedicated farm of industrial 3D printers. Daceys’ reputation for innovation stretches back decades – under former owner Bob Cooper, the company was one of the UK’s earliest adopters of 3D printing, using bespoke machines to manufacture surgical footwear lasts more than a decade ago.

Today, under third-generation leadership, The CADCAM Lab marks the next evolution in Daceys’ 53-year history. With more than 30 printers, the lab dramatically increases output, enhances repeatability and elevates product accuracy across footwear lasts, AFOs (negative and finished), soft EVA-like and rigid polypropylene-like insoles, and test/fitting footwear. By transitioning to a fully digital workflow, Daceys can now reduce lead times significantly, minimise material waste and deliver greater production scalability, strengthening NHS service delivery and future competitiveness.

Orthotix Appointed UK & Ireland Trade Distributor

Orthotix will now serve as the general trade reseller for all LutraCAD hardware, software and materials across the UK and Ireland. This includes clinical scanning equipment, CAD software modules, specialist 3D printers and an extensive range of innovative MDR-approved print filaments. To learn more about LutraCAD and their technology portfolio, visit their website.

From early next year LutraCAD technologies will be showcased at trade exhibitions across the UK & Ireland. Potential customers and industry partners will also be invited to The CADCAM Lab at Daceys, where they will be able to witness the full digital workflow in action from data capture and design to live printing and product finishing.

If your organisation is exploring digital manufacturing or looking for a reliable partner to deliver high-quality 3D-printed orthoses, The PTH Group powered by LutraCAD is ready to support you!
